Learning by Leaps and Bounds with Liberty
Homeschool Family of the Month – July 2017
How adorable is Debbie’s family of South Carolina? They have been homeschooling for a year and a half, avoiding the politics they see in public schools. We learned more about the family when we spoke with them recently on the phone. Debbie heard about the Rush Revere series listening to The Rush Limbaugh Show on the radio and bought the books, one by one, for her children. The kids LOVE the books, and she is happy with the way the authors “make history real to her children.” The family reads the books out loud and has fun with the characters, and Debbie reports that all have a “new found love for early American history, so much so that it’s tough to get them to move on to other parts of history because they want to keep learning about it.” So perfect!
Debbie also shared a really cute story. Her daughters love Liberty from the books, and the Crew recently sent them Liberty plush dolls. Her daughter glued straws together and made horse jumping fences! You girls sound a lot like Freedom and Maddie – so creative and smart! This lovely family is part of a homeschool co-op of 100 families, and plan to use the Rush Revere series, handout materials and study guides for classes next fall.
